Karen Sizemore
September 19, 1944 - February 13, 2024 (Age 79)
Karen J. Sizemore, born on September 19th, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio, peacefully passed away on February 13th, 2024, at the age of 79. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her.
Karen is survived by her sisters Kathy Carsili and Debbie (Carsilli) Hysell, her son Kevin Sizemore, daughter Gina (Sizemore) Oesterle, grandchildren Devin Torre, Garrett Litten, Jacob Litten, Brandon Sizemore, Brianna Sizemore, Brock Oesterle, great-grandchildren Adler Torre, and Ayla Torre, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A proud graduate of Franklin Heights High School, Karen's passion for music shone brightly during her time in the choir and girls' musical glee club. Following high school, she honorably served in the U.S. Navy as a Vietnam Veteran from 1966-1969, demonstrating her commitment to duty and service.
Karen found solace and community at Jersey Baptist Church, actively participating in the choir and the lady's Bible class taught by her sister, Pat Poole. Her spiritual journey was further enriched through the Grow Group Bible Class, reflecting her enduring faith and devotion.
An adventurer at heart, Karen's four years at California State University fueled her love for travel, leading her to reside in Georgia and Arizona. Over the years, she explored the landscapes of the USA, Canada, and various countries, embracing the diverse cultures she encountered.
Karen's zest for life knew no bounds as she engaged in a myriad of interests, including tap dancing, ballet, beading, music, tennis, desert dirt biking, skating, hiking, and camping. Grateful for a Christian upbringing and good health, she cherished the support of family and friends, acknowledging their role in the tapestry of her life.
Above all, Karen expressed profound gratitude for a loving and eternal God, who remained a steadfast presence in her life, offering comfort and guidance to His children.
The DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the Sizemore family during this difficult time. Friends may call Friday, February 23 at the funeral home from 11 to 12 PM. A funeral ceremony will be held at 12 with a procession to Northlawn Memory Gardens in Westerville, Ohio for burial immediately to follow.
