Bedford, PA – Karla Jean Steele, 69, of Bedford, PA, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Devlin Manor Health Care Center.
Born May 2, 1952, in Cumberland, MD, Mrs. Steele was the daughter of the late Berlin Hedrick and Ruth Elizabeth (Twigg) Hedrick. She was also preceded in death by her brother: Edwin Hedrick; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A Graduate of Fort Hill High School, Class of 1970, Karla was a former employee of Tommy’s Market and Christopher’s Photo Lab. First and foremost, she loved her grandchildren. Karla also loved to knit and crochet, watch baking shows, and going to flea markets and auctions. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Karla is survived by her husband of 50 years: William “Bill” Steele; her son: Ivan Steele and wife, Nicky; and her grandchildren: Rebecca and Evan Steele, all of Bedford, PA; her brothers: Ronald Hedrick and wife Carol, Hedgesville, WV; Royce Hedrick and Larry Hedrick and good friend, Ginny, Cumberland, MD; and Danny Hedrick and wife, Trellis, LaVale, MD; her sisters: Evelyn Matheson, Whapeton, ND; Bonnie Bloss, Cumberland; and Carolyn Wilson and husband, Richard, Cumberland. She is also survived by her sister-in-law: Sue Hedrick, Bascom, OH; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., and from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 11:00 A.M., with Reverend Ron Yost officiating. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff, nurses, and doctors at Devlin Manor for all the care, compassion, and support given.
