It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Kathleen (Kathy) Joan Watkoski, aged 68, who went to be with the Lord on the morning of June 9, 2025, at Hempfield Manor after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Kathy was born on October 16, 1956, in Greensburg, a beloved daughter of the late James (Leo) and Virginia Kelly.
Kathy was known for her warm heart and generous spirit, always accepting and loving of everyone who came into her life. She touched the lives of many with her unwavering support and compassion for her family and the patients she attended to during her 25 years of service as an EKG Tech at Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. Kathy's passion for animals, gardening, and helping others was evident to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Thomas Watkoski, Sr., as well as her children and their spouses, Thomas Watkoski, Jr. and his wife Stephanie ; Laura Altman and her husband Christian; and Matthew Watkoski; grandchildren, Archer, Gabriella, and Abigail; siblings, Michael Kelly, Kevin Kelly and wife Monique, and Colleen (Cookie) Garland, as well as a host of beloved cousins, aunts, uncles, and in-laws.
Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister; her family and pets were her greatest joy. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating countless memories that will be treasured forever.
Kathy believed in the Lord and found strength and truth in her favorite song, "Amazing Grace":
“When this flesh and heart shall fail, and mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil, a life of joy and peace.”
Kathleen Joan Watkoski will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
In respect of Kathy’s wishes, a memorial service will be held on Friday June20th at 10am at Westmoreland County Memorial Park. Those who wish to attend are welcome.
Kathy's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Hempfield Manor and Bridges Hospice for their heartfelt care and support. Many staff members went above and beyond to ensure Kathy knew she was loved and thought of while she was in their care.
