Larry David Griffin

Larry David Griffin, 78, of Union County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, surrounded by the ones he loved.
Born on December 8, 1947, in Union County, NC, Larry was the son of the late Jim and Margaret Griffin. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Judy Griffin and Kathy Tadlock, and two brothers, William Griffin, Sr. and Douglas Griffin. Larry leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his siblings: Ann Stallings and her husband Michael; Kenneth Griffin and his wife Billie Jean; Dale Helms and her partner Jamie Fannon; and Carol Plowman. Also left to cherish his memory is his granddaughter, Jan Fitzgerald and her twin sons plus many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who brought him great joy throughout his life.
Larry was a man who truly loved life’s simple pleasures. He had a deep passion for antique cars, an unwavering love for his family, his country as he served faithfully as a member of the United States Marine Corp, and his unwavering faith in God. Known for his warm spirit, Larry enjoyed people-watching and found happiness in small acts of kindness—especially giving children a few dollars so they could enjoy something special. He was a constant source of laughter, always a cut-up, and never had a bad word to say about anyone. His gentle nature and joyful presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held on April 2, 2026, at Good Shepherd Chapel of Life and Legacy Funerals and Cremations, located at 6525 Old Monroe Road, Indian Trail, NC 28079. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Sunset Memory Gardens, located at 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
