Larry was a beloved member of the Boppers Shag Club, where he served as President in 2012 and 2019, and Vice President in 2018. In 2009, he was honored with the Boppers Shag Club Icon Award, a testament to his dedication and love for shag dancing and beach music. His passion for dancing was only rivaled by the love he had for his family, friends, and his loyal dog, Buck.

He is survived by his devoted wife, of 56 years, Cathy Thomas; his daughters, Michelle Horne and Annette Jackson (Skip); his grandchildren, Wally Love (Lindsay), Kendall Love (Cameron), Brittany Love (Sean), and Madison Thomas; and his great-grandchildren, Nico, Kohl, Collins, Ashton, and Scotlyn. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy Pope, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde E. Thomas and Nina Speights Thomas; several siblings, and other beloved family members. In a touching moment of reunion, his faithful dog Buck passed away the day after Larry, joining him once more.

Larry had a special bond with each of his grandchildren and was deeply loved by his family and his shag community. He will be remembered for his humor, generosity, and the joy he brought to every room he entered.
