Larry Lee McCutcheon

August 14, 1942 - May 17, 2025 (Age 82)

Larry McCutcheon, 82 of Zanesville passed away Saturday, May 17 at The Clay Gardens Place under the care of Genesis Hospice. Larry was born August 14, 1942, to Richard and Kathryn (Baughman) McCutcheon of Zanesville. He was a 1960 graduate of Philo High School and continued to The Ohio State University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture science. Larry married his high school sweetheart Sandy (Loomis) McCutcheon on Sept. 7th, 1963. He was a member of the Central Trinity United Methodist Church.

Larry’s main occupation and passion was farming his family’s farm that was established in 1881. In addition, he later became a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Larry was a member of Anchor Lodge F & A.M. Duncan Falls and belonged to The Young Farmers Association. He also donated his time to the Philo Athletic Boosters and served on the Franklin Local School Board of Education for 39 years.

Surviving Larry are his children: Brett (Kathy) McCutcheon, Kim (Bryan) Kerns and Chad McCutcheon; his grandchildren: Grace McCutcheon, Emily (Jackson) Hargraves, Austin (Abby) Mahan, Jake Mahan, Drew (Abby) Kerns, Ethan (Emilee) Kerns, Carson Kerns, Clay (Kel) McCutcheon and Carter McCutcheon; his great grandchildren: Greyson, Lake, Ryker, Baylor and a baby girl on the way!

Larry is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Kathryn McCutcheon. His heart was truly broken when he lost his wife Sandy, of 59 years in 2021. He also had a great grandchild, Meadow Hayes Mahan, stillborn.

The family would like to thank the friends and staff at Clay Gardens place for taking such good care of Larry in the last year. We also had two very special ladies that helped the family keep Larry at home before that. Some of you got nicknames and put up with a good amount of sass. He loved you! You all became part of our family, and we are so very thankful for you.

Masonic services will be at 10:30AM.

Calling hours will be from 11AM to 2PM, Friday, May 23, 2025, at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. The funeral service will begin at 2PM with Rev. Jamie Harrop officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park.
