Larry Nicholas Harnish

December 23, 1949 - May 3, 2024 (Age 74)

Larry Nicholas Harnish, 74, of Lancaster entered eternal rest on Friday, May 3, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of 25 years to Linda (Corbett) Harnish.

He was born in Mercersburg and was the son of the late Grover C. Harnish and Verna V. (Gordon) Harnish.

Larry was a member of the Lancaster USBC as well as a director (United States Bowling Corp.), a Lifetime member of the North American Hunting Association, Silver Beaver of Boy Scouts of America, Wood Badge of B.S.A, Vigil member of Order of the Arrow, Scout Master of Troop 40 in Annville, and a youth coach for Rocky Springs. He enjoyed deer hunting, being a handyman, and was a season ticket holder for the Barnstormers. He would enjoy going before the game to collect the balls after practice to hand them to the children. Larry also did a lot for his church and volunteered for many events including ushering.

In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his son, Gregory D. Harnish (Tiffany) of SC; daughter, Leigh Gable (Michael) of Palmyra; stepson, Bryan Glassmyer (Alicia) of Mountville; sister, Phyllis Martin of Chambersburg; brother, Clifford Harnish (Vesta) of Mercersburg; grandchildren, Felicia, Amanda, James, and Faith Harnish, step-grandchildren, Rebekah and Sarah Glassmyer, Corey Gable; great-grandchildren, Rose L. Harnish and Asher G. Shaner.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by siblings, Clarence Harnish, Eleanor Barnhart, and Edna Pittman.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Larry’s Funeral Service at Faith United Church of Christ, 1204 Wabank Road, Lancaster, PA on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John C. Rieker officiating. Viewings will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at The Groffs Family Funeral Home, 528 W. Orange Street, Lancaster, PA and again on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Larry’s name to his church, Faith UCC, or to the Lancaster USBC, 3440 Columbia Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603 in Memory of Larry.
