Larry Thomas Hagler
October 4, 1941 - February 1, 2026 (Age 84)
Mr. Larry Thomas Hagler, 84, of Matthews, North Carolina, formerly of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026. Born on October 4, 1941, Larry lived a full and meaningful life rooted in family, faith, and simple joys.
A proud graduate of Central High School’s Class of 1959, Larry went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force as part of the Strategic Air Command. His service reflected the same qualities that defined him throughout his life: strength, loyalty, and a steadfast sense of duty.
Larry retired from A.G. Boone after more than 20 years and then built a long and respected career in the title industry, ultimately serving as Chief Financial Officer of Atlantis Title Company. His sharp mind, steady leadership, and unwavering integrity earned him the trust of colleagues and clients alike.
Larry was a longtime member of Oakhurst Baptist Church, where he found community and spiritual grounding. Those who knew him best would describe him as stubborn in the most endearing way, kind to his core, and deeply loving. He carried a tough exterior, but beneath it was a soft heart devoted entirely to his family.
He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures — trips to the beach, a good round of golf, relaxing in his favorite chair while watching sports, listening to Buddy Holly, and playing solitaire. His family will forever smile remembering his habit of checking Greg’s location on Life360, a small but constant reminder of how much he cared. And no one will forget his legendary “driving assistance” from the passenger seat, offered with love, precision, and just a touch of insistence.
Above all, Larry will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather. His greatest joy was found in the people he loved.
Larry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Brenda “Mia” Hagler, with whom he shared a lifetime of adventures. March 5th would have marked their 59th wedding anniversary. Together, they cherished day trips, long drives, and traveling whenever they could — always happiest simply being side by side.
He is also survived by his son, Greg Thomas Hagler (Patricia); grandchildren, Zach Davis, Emilie Hagler, Elizabeth Honeycutt (Chris), Blake Hinson (Julia), and Addison Hinson; great- grandchildren, Landon Thomas Honeycutt the 1st and apple of Larry's eye, Emmett Honeycutt, Evelyn Honeycutt, Brooklynn Hinson, and Hannah Hinson; siblings, Hugh Hagler of Pageland, SC, Barbara Little of Monroe, NC, and James "Jimmy" Hagler of Chester, SC; and Carrie Yeatts, the daughter he should have brought home.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Thomas Hagler and Agness Lucille Hagler, and his sister, Helen "Susie" Norville.
Larry’s legacy lives on in the family he adored and the countless memories he created with them. His presence will be deeply missed, but his love will continue to guide those who knew him.
