LaVerne Cortese

LaVerne (Demorest) Cortese, age 94, of Adamsburg, passed away Friday, April 11, 2025. She was born August 11, 1930 in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Marvin and Elsa (Vesco) Demorest. She worked for over 10 years at Paper Craft in Jeannette and then Blawnox before working the next 15 years as a chef at the Adams House in Adamsburg. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Samuel Cortese; son Samuel John Cortese; brothers Wilbert Demorest and Marvin “Sonny” Demorest; and sisters Marie Webster and Ruby Lewis. She is survived by her son Michael B. (Deborah) Cortese of Greensburg; grandchildren Michael J. Cortese, Heather Banwar, Anthony (Amanda) Cortese and Catherine (Christopher) McConnell; great grandchildren Caleb, Cody, Mikayla, Finley and Ira; and brother Ronald (Jeannie) Demorest. Friends and family will be received on Thursday April 17th from 10 a.m. till time of blessing service at 2 p.m. at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200.
