Lawrence Alexander Monroe Senior was born on September 12, 1933, in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. He was the son of Walter Monroe and Mary (Morrison) Monroe, at the young age of 2 he lost his mother and went to go live with his grandparents James A. Morrison and Catherine Morrison who raised him. He graduated from John G. Fee High School in June, 1951. Lawrence wanted to serve his country and enlisted in the US Navy February 16, 1952. He was a radio operator aboard the USS Goodrich Aircraft Carrier and travelled the world. He served in the US Navy four

years, February 16, 1952 to July 16, 1955.

He then married the love of his life Mary Louise Travis on June 16th, 1956, and from that union they had four children, Anita Marie, Kathy Larene, Lori Ann, and Lawrence Alexander Jr. He would later remarry Edna Patterson after he lost his wife to MS. When Lawrence left the Navy he attended the Columbus College of Art and Design he loved art. He went on to pursue a 40 year career at the United States Post Office.

If asked he would tell you his greatest accomplishment in his 90 years of life other than family, it would be when he gave his life to the Lord and served as an ordained Deacon at his church for over 50 years. He also worked with the Gideons in supplying hotels, motels, with Bibles. I know to this day some never knew his first name, he was always known simply as "Deacon Monroe". He was a devout man of God, a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Lawrence loved God and his church. He also loved gardening, the outdoors and gathering with family, especially for the holidays. He lived a full life and now it is his time to rest. He transitioned to his heavenly home January 17, 2024, with a smile on his face.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and parents, both wives Mary Louise, Edna E., and daughter Lori Ann. He is survived by his sister Becky Peters, daughters Anita/Henry Gober, Kathy L. Monroe, son Larry/Francine, and many great great and great grand children, many other relatives and loved ones.

Lawrence Alexander Monroe Senior (Deacon Monroe) you will be dearly missed!!!

Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
