Leroy J "Butch" Spencer, Sr.

Cumberland—Leroy Junior “Butch” Spencer, Sr., 75, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021, at UPMC Western Maryland.
Born in Cumberland, MD, on May 6, 1945, he was the son of the late Lorenzo and Wanda Lee (Atkinson) Spencer. Butch was preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Walters) Spencer; daughter, Lora Lee DeVore; brothers, Eugene Richard Spencer, and Paul Melvin Spencer, Sr.; sister, Carol Jean Bridges.
Butch attended Fort Hill High School. He was a masonry worker who was employed and retired from local BAC 16 in West Virginia.
Butch is survived by his children, Edna L. Spencer, Leroy J. Spencer, Jr., and Lisa Marie Evans; granddaughters who he had adopted, Hope DeVore-Spencer and husband, Timothy Walters, and Cassandra “Cassie” Day and husband, Andrew; sister, Ruth Timbrook. Butch is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Because of health care considerations, there will be no visitation or formal funeral service. In keeping with Butch’s wishes, he will be cremated.
