Linda F. Carter

Mrs. Linda French Carter, 78, of Stallings, NC, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Atrium Health Charlotte.
Linda was born on September 15, 1947 in Charlotte, NC, daughter to the late Wilton and Frances Unsell French. In addition to her parents, Linda was also preceded in death by her beloved late husband Jeff Carter; daughter Carrie Harmon; brother Glen French; and sister Brenda Edwards.
She graduated in 1965 from Garringer High School in Charlotte, NC. Linda worked for many years as an Insurance Adjuster for Aetna /Travelers Insurance Company, where she met her Best Friend- Linda Watts and her husband John, before retiring. Linda and Jeff enjoyed many great trips and cruises together over the years.
Linda loved spending time with her family and loved to travel around the world with her late husband, Jeff and their traveling companions, Norman & Carol Edwards. She will be remembered for her smile and laughter, her strength and grace at all times. She loved her family deeply.
She had a rare and beautiful gift; she didn’t just welcome people into her family, she wove them into its very heart. To her daughters-in-law, she was never just a relative by marriage. She was like a mother, a confidante, and a dear friend.
Her family and friends will always treasure the laughter that filled their vacations and girls’ trips. They will forever smile remembering how Linda’s world truly began after noon, a wonderful quirk that was just part of her sweet and innocent spirit.
She was a gentle, non-judgmental soul who you could talk to about anything. She brought a quiet joy to every birthday, holiday, game night or a simple dinner out. To be around Linda was to be completely yourself and completely loved.
Her gentle laugh and the joy she took in her grandchildren, family and friends will be missed beyond words, but her spirit will always be remembered.
Survivors include her loving sons Chris Harmon, Jeffrey Carter (Lisa) and Nick Carter (Jeynne); 5 grandchildren Brandon, Justin, Chance, Brianna and Josiah; and 8 great-grandchildren on the Harmon side ; and 2 grandchildren Heather Dennis and Jefferson Carter, and 3 great-grandchildren Bella Carter, Emerson Lane and “Baby” Carter on the Carter side; and also by her beloved dog Mitzi.
