Lois Bostard

January 29, 1938 – July 9, 2026 (Age 88)

Lois Madeline (Bedlion) Bostard, born January 29, 1938, in Champion, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026, at Taylor Springs Health Campus, just a block from her home in Gahanna, Ohio.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Blanche Bedlion, her two sisters, four brothers, and her beloved husband of 63 years, Robert Bostard.

A graduate of Youngstown State University, Lois earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and was a proud breast cancer survivor. Her teaching career began in California, where she worked in special education before becoming a tutor while raising her children. Once her children were in school, Lois returned to the classroom as a second‑grade teacher at Stiles Elementary, where she joyfully taught for 22 years before retiring.

Retirement, however, was short‑lived. With the rise of personal computers, Lois embraced new technology and traveled to schools teaching Computer Tots, blending her love of education with her curiosity for innovation.

Lois devoted countless years of service to Trinity Assembly of God, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, Vacation Bible School Director, puppet ministry leader, women’s director, choir member, and pianist. Even as dementia progressed, Lois retained her remarkable ability to sit at the piano and play hymns and Christmas carols entirely from memory.

A gifted sewist, Lois lovingly made clothing for her children for many years. She was also an enthusiastic fan of word games, computer games, puzzles, and the Cincinnati Reds.

Lois leaves behind a legacy of love as a devoted mother to Lori Devereux, Brigette Wootton, and Marlin (Shari) Bostard; a cherished grandmother to 12 grandchildren and their spouses; and a treasured great‑grandmother to 20 great‑grandchildren.

A family viewing will be held Tuesday, July 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Franklin Hills Memory Garden.
