Lois J. Stoner

May 28, 1934 – October 7, 2026 (Age 92)

Lois J. Stoner, 95, of New Stanton passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 in WVU Westmoreland Hospital. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, on May 28, 1931, a daughter of the late Clarence A. and Margaret Belle (Croushore) Poole

Lois, whose heart was bigger than the Allegheny Mountains, lived for her family. From a young age, Lois had an eye and appreciation for the aesthetic, her keen fashion sense consistently on display, from her hair to her shoes. She never let the weather, difficulty, or even age keep her from being dressed to the nines at all times. She also kept a gorgeous and meticulous home, diligently turning over the decorations in honor of each holiday.

As an adult, Lois held many jobs. She worked as a jewelry salesperson in a retail store, she was a teacher’s aide, and she worked as a realtor, but the job she loved most was the many years she served working as a nurse. Her ability to care for others knew no bounds, and Lois thrived making her rounds and tending to those in need. She worked for 22 years as a Charge Nurse at Westmoreland Manor before she retired to focus on her family.

Lois was a committed Christian. She attended church every Sunday, taught Sunday school, played the piano and the organ during service, and served as the Sunday School Superintendent.

But beyond the beauty Lois brought to the world and her professional accomplishments, her biggest achievement by far was raising her six wonderful children as a single mother, working full-time as she brought them up, and sending each of them to college. She also cared for her own mother, Margaret, until her passing at 100 years old. Lois sat firmly at the head of the Stoner family for multiple generations, consistently filling the room with love and laughter as her family grew and grew during the 95 years of her vibrant life. A family tree is only as strong as the trunk that holds it all together, and Lois was the force that allowed the Stoner family to truly flourish.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Jack Croushore Poole; and her great-grandson, Brandon Scott Basinger.

She is survived by her six children, Barry Stoner, Vivian Goslicky and her husband Wade Goslicky, Pamela Colwell and her husband Gary Colwell, Donald Stoner and his wife Susan Stoner, Dr. Beverly Knopf and her husband Elmer Knopf, and David Stoner and his companion Joyce Ventresca; her grandchildren, Jennifer Basinger and her husband Jeffrey Basinger, Jeff Mulvay, Barry Stoner, Jr. and his wife Meaghan Stoner, Christopher Stoner and his wife Chelsea Patriquin, Jill Goslicky and her husband Aaron Krebs, Kristin Adams and her husband Brian Adams, Megan Knopf and her fiancé Michael Constantine, Michael Goslicky and his wife Terria Goslicky, and Daniel Stoner and his fiancée Lianna Caloviras; her great-grandchildren, Bethany Lefchik and her husband Jakob Lefchik, Shannon Stoner, Trevor Stoner, Hudson Adams, Aubrey Mohring, Gavin Goslicky, Calvin Stoner, Jolynn Goslicky, Idella Krebs, Angelo Constatine, Jude Adams, August Adams, Arthur Constantine, and Grayson Goslicky; her great-great-granddaughter Gracie Lefchik; her niece Janet Brunozzi and her husband Daniel Brunozzi; along with several great nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Funeral services begin immediately after the visitation in the funeral home chapel with Rev. S. Dennis Kletzing, officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
