Loretta N. Smillie

Loretta N. Smillie, age 88, of Jeannette Pa, passed away on Thursday March 12, 2020, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born October 3, 1931, in Claridge, PA, a daughter of late Frank and Edith (DiMarchi) Gaudi. Loretta was a homemaker and wonderful mother. She was a member of the Ascension Church, Jeannette and was once President of the Homemakers Association. Loretta loved cooking and gardening. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crafts and spending time with friends. Besides her parents Loretta was preceded in death by her husband Richard D. Smillie in 2004 and one brother Francis Gaudi. Loretta is survived by her two daughters Linda L. Huffman and husband Dennis of Grapeville and Cynthia L. Bibb and husband Paul. of Jeannette; two grandchildren Nikki McCutcheon and Dennis R. Huffman and wife Veronica; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements with Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home, Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry 724-694-8331. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park
