Lori K. Ponitz

March 1, 1963 – April 9, 2026 (Age 63)

Lori Keibler Ponitz, 63, of Southwest Greensburg, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, in Pittsburgh, following a long illness. She was born March 1, 1963, in Greensburg, and was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Eleanor Keibler; her brother-in-law, Dave Ashbaugh; and her brother, Rex Keibler.

Lori is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jon Ponitz; her two sons, Zachary and Ian Ponitz; her sisters, Jill Ashbaugh and Robin (Hunter) Smith; and her sister-in-law, Vicki Keibler. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, Jordy, Mary, Nathan, Michelle, Alexa, Adam, Megan, Andrew, Cory, Shaina, and their respective children—as well as countless “adopted children” who knew her simply as “Mom.”

Lori was a beautician by trade but a caretaker by heart. After many years as a stay-at-home parent raising her sons, she went on to care for those in need as a personal aid. Known by all for her caring, loving, and a positive spirit, Lori spent her life as a beacon of light to those around her. She loved to cook—especially for the residents at SPHS—sit on her front porch, enjoy the little moments, style hair, and play Candy Crush on her iPad.

Friends and family will be received from 3 to 6 PM Monday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg, followed by a funeral service to begin at 6 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers or donations, her family asks that you give a hug to a loved one.

The family extends a very special thank-you to Dr. Elizabeth Andraska and the staff at UPMC Presbyterian for their compassionate care over the past year.
