Louise Walker

Louise Walker, 75 of Irwin, passed away Friday, May 6th, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born August 4, 1946, in Braddock, daughter of the late Michael and Santella (Valentino) Smarra. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband William L. Walker in 1989 and brother, August Smarra. Louise was a member of St. Edward R.C. Church in Herminie. She was very involved with the choir and loved to cantor mass. She also taught religious education over the years. She loved to go dancing and was a member of the Steel City Boogie Club and was a big Elvis fan. She loved spending time with her family and seeing her grandchildren. Louise is survived by her daughter, Michelle L. Walker of Irwin; her son, William M. (Lisa) Walker of NY; three special grandchildren, Stiv Marcotte, Ramona Beckman and Tyler Walker; brother, Neal (Christine) Smarra of Claridge and sister, Rose (Bonnie) Smarra- Valentino of VA; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Louise will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Her love for her faith and dancing will forever be remembered. The family would like to thank AHN Hospice Care for all their love and compassionate care. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, 724-446-7251. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, in Herminie with with Father Vincent Yee-Concepcion as celebrant. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Twp. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Edward Church, 120 St. Edwards Lane, Herminie, PA 15637 in memory of Louise.
