Marjorie Vandeventer

June 13, 1935 - July 20, 2024 (Age 89)

Marjorie Lake Vandeventer, age 89, of Midland, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024.

Marjorie was born on June 13, 1935 in Fortune, Newfoundland, Canada and became a naturalized American citizen in 1965. Marjorie married the love of her life, Thomas Vandeventer, on March 8, 1956 and they were happily married for 68 years. Until Tom’s retirement in 1973 Marjorie supported the family throughout Thomas' twenty-year Air Force career. Marjorie and Thomas moved to Mint Hill, North Carolina in 1973 and were active members of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church. Marjorie volunteered at Presbyterian hospital and went on to manage the gift shop. In 1999 Tom and Marge moved to Sunset Beach North Carolina and were active in the Calabash Presbyterian Church. In her spare time, Marjorie enjoyed arts and crafts, interior design and tending her garden. More than anything, Marjorie cherished spending time with her beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Marjorie was preceded in by death her son, Robert Wayne Vandeventer, her sister Alice Cranford, and brother George Lake. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Vandeventer, her sisters, Olive Hickman and Mildred Keeping, her two sons, Larry Vandeventer (Rebecca) and Steve Vandeventer (Deanna), and her grandchildren, Sarah Loosigian (Tom), Matthew Vandeventer (Ben), Emily Vandeventer, Amy VanDeventer (Nick), James Vandeventer and Nicklaus Vandeventer, and great-grandchild, Maxwell Loosigian.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm in the chapel. Marjorie will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
