Marvene Swavely

Marvene (Folk) Swavely, 93, of Pottstown, wife of Howard R. Swavely, Jr., passed away on Monday October 2, 2023 in Pottstown.

Born in Stoney Creek Mills, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harry Folk and the late Eva (Myers) Folk.

Marvene was a member of Coventry Church of the Brethren, Pottstown where she taught Sunday School Teacher and Bible School. Being active in the community, she was a member of the former PMMC East Auxiliary. Marvene was an accomplished artist and painted in oils and pastels. Her home is full of these artworks and family members enjoy them when they visit. Cooking was one of Marvene’s favorite things to do. She loved cooking for her family and friends and was always willing to share recipes. Marvene was a host for most family dinners and celebrations and eager to welcome all to their home.

Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Howard R. Swavely, III and his wife Tamara, Pottstown, Jonathan L. Swavely, Pottstown; a daughter, Sara A. wife of Edward Snyder, Boyertown; a sister, Denise wife of Frederick Franks, Naples, FL; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A private funeral service will be held at Coventry Church of the Brethren. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Muthler. Burial will also be private at Highland Memorial Park.
