Marvin J. Cottrell, Jr.
December 5, 1931 - December 17, 2021 (Age 90)
Marvin J. Cottrell (Jr.), 90 of Zanesville, went home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones, peacefully at his home on the river.
He was born on December 5, 1931, in Arnoldsburg, West Virginia, son of the late Andrew and Lillie Cottrell. Jr. worked at Kaiser Aluminum for 31 years, where he retired. In his free time, he was an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman. He truly loved the outdoors. He was a loving father, brother, grandpa, uncle, friend, and beer drinkin’ buddy to many people.
He is survived by his sons, Bernard Cottrell, George (Diane) Cottrell, Marvin Cottrell, Rex (April) Cottrell, David (Sandy) McGee; brother, Calvin Cottrell; sister, Violet Wallace; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved to spend countless hours with; and very special friend, Wanda Sharrer.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Rodney Cottrell; daughter, Susan Cottrell; brothers, Bernard, Raymond, and Haymond Cottrell; sisters, Jean Trail, Norma Woods and Alberta Stump; grandchildren, Patrick and Conner.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday December 22, 2021 from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home. Services will take place at 1:00 PM with Rev. Darren Tolbert officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home is assisting the Cottrell family with arrangements.
