Mary Ann Hudson of Pottstown, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, with her loving husband and devoted sons by her side.
Born in Rochester, NY, on January 21, 1950, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late James Chatley and Evelyn (Gustafson) Chatley, her siblings are Linda Ralls, Robert Chatley (husband of Donna), and Jeanne Terns (wife of Ray).
Mary Ann was a proud graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her professional life reflected her patience and analytical mind, working first as a dedicated school teacher, and later managing bookkeeping for Pfrommers Trucking and as the Finance Director for New Hanover Township.
On August 21, 1970, Mary Ann married the love of her life, Tom Hudson. Together, they built a beautiful life of shared adventures and enduring commitment spanning over 55 years. Mary Ann was a passionate traveler who loved exploring the world, successfully visiting most of the United States and traveling to over 30 countries.
Closer to home, her community and faith were central to her life. Mary Ann was an active and devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pottstown for over 50 years. Over the decades, she served faithfully on the Session, managed the church's finances as both treasurer and financial secretary, and led the Prime Timers group. She also taught Sunday School and poured her love into creating comfort for others as a dedicated member of the prayer shawl group. She was an active member of the American Swedish History Museum in Philadelphia.
A fierce and resilient spirit, Mary Ann was a proud two-time cancer survivor. She found endless joy in life’s simple pleasures, whether she was lost in a good book, knitting, crocheting, working on crosswords, puzzles or engaging in friendly competition playing cards and board games. Above all else, she deeply loved and treasured her family. Her greatest joy came from her role as a grandmother. She was their biggest fan, eagerly attending their sporting events, concerts, award ceremonies and any other celebrations they were involved in. Gramma proudly displayed her school spirit with t-shirts and sweatshirts. She was even known to show up with posters and senior big heads. She proudly decorated their yards for graduation. Gramma loved to be wherever her grandkids were playing games, cheering them on, getting ice cream and just spending time together.
In addition to her beloved husband, Tom, she is survived by her two sons: Eric Hudson and his wife Tracy, and Mark Hudson and his wife Erin. She leaves behind a lasting legacy in her four cherished grandchildren: Jessica, Alexis, Matthew, and Logan, as well as her surviving siblings, extended family, and many dear friends.
