Mary C. Swankler

Mary Cathy Swankler, 77, of Madison, formerly of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Independence Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. She was born June 5, 1949 in Braddock, PA. Prior to her retirement, Mary was a secretary for North Huntingdon Township Zoning and Planning Department. She was a member of St. Edward Parish, the Ladies Prayer group, and she taught religious education for children. She was involved along with her husband supporting NCAA baseball, basketball and St. Agnes Football. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren play various sports. She is survived by her husband, James William Swankler Jr., sons, Jim Swankler (Pamella Ireland) and Mark Swankler (Kimberly); grandchildren, Pilar, Paloma, Liz Newton-Tanzer (Gavin), Marc A. (Kendra), Austen (Morgan), Damon (Sarah), and Noah.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA 15642. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Edward Church. Interment to follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to White Oak Safe Haven.
