Mary E. Ober
July 19, 1926 – August 1, 2026 (Age 100)
Mary E. “Betty” Ober, 100, of Mount Joy, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born in Florin, she was the daughter of the late Winfield and Dorothy (Kling) Zerphey. Betty was the wife of the late Samuel H. Ober who passed away on August 30, 2002.
A lifelong Mount Joy resident, Betty was a homemaker raising three children. She worked part time at the former IGA store in Florin. She was a life member of Glossbrenner United Methodist Church. An avid reader, Betty enjoyed flower gardening and word puzzles.
Surviving are three sons, David E. Ober, husband of Adrian of Orange, CA, Kenneth L. Ober, husband of Bonnie of Mount Joy, and William A. Ober of Mount Joy. Also surviving are five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild.
Betty was preceded in death by her siblings, Peggy Brown, Rosine Farmer, Winfield Zerphey, and Victor Zerphey.
A funeral service honoring Betty’s life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA 17552 on Friday, August 7, 2026 at 11 AM. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home before the service from 10 AM to 11 AM. Interment be private at Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601.
