Mary E. Shumate
February 28, 1937 - August 9, 2022 (Age 85)
Mary Elizabeth Shumate, 85 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2022 at Altercare of Zanesville Nursing Home.
She was born on February 28, 1937, in Edwight, West Virginia, daughter of the late William Jacob Harvey and Nancy Jane McBride. She was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church of West Virginia for many years. She then became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Zanesville. Mary worked at United Technology of Zanesville. In her free time, she enjoyed spending her hours with her special dog, Buck, who she loved to no end.
She is survived by her sister, Wilda Shatley; grandchildren, Jacobe (Jessica) Shumate, Dustin (Kaylee) Shumate, Nathaniel (Tiffany Rebber) Shumate, Lindsey (Robert) Casebolt; daughter-in-law, Kelly Shumate; 10 great-grandchildren; special friends, Georgia Bauseman, Carol Coakwell, and Charlene Young.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William F. Shumate; son, William L. Shumate; great-grandson, Kyle Casebolt; sisters, Violet Martin, Geneva Wimer, and Maxine Farley.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held in honor of Mary on Wednesday August 24, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Darren Tolbert officiating services.
