Mary L. Hotchkiss
June 26, 1940 – April 16, 2026 (Age 85)
Mary L. “Maudy” (Brailer) Hotchkiss, 85, of Rawlings, MD, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, April 16, 2026. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Born June 26, 1940 in Cumberland, MD, Maudy grew up in Mt. Savage, MD and moved to Rawlings, MD in 1975. She was a 1958 graduate of Girls Central High School in Cumberland, MD. Maudy worked in retail, as a medical secretary at IDF dialysis center with her daughter until her retirement, and then continued as a nanny for Dr. Ahmed’s children. She was a devoted member of Annunciation of our Lord Catholic Church. Maudy loved football especially the Steelers and Penn State’s Nittany Lions.
Maudy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Thomas Lee Hotchkiss; parents Jerome and Alma (Williams) Brailer; brother, James Brailer; sister, Evelyn (Brailer) Robertson; nephew, Jim Robertson; and grandson Kody Hotchkiss, and Ollie, her loving dog.
She is survived by daughters, Diane Sodders and spouse, Michele Haller and spouse; son, Jeff Hotchkiss and fiancé; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and her dog, Bella.
In accordance with her wishes Mary was cremated.
A celebration of life will be celebrated for both Mary and Thomas on Tuesday, April 21st at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland; friends will be received from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and a service will begin at 5:00 p.m with Fr. Daniel Price officiating.
Inurnment will be private and in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, MD.
