Mary Louise Christensen, 89, of Nashport, died Thursday night, May 23, 2024, at her home.
Born November 16, 1934, in Nashport, she was a daughter of the late John K. and Emma Lucille (Bates) Fairall and a 1952 graduate of Frazeysburg High School. Mary was a Methodist by faith and a long-time member of the Nashport United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Lady’s Friendship Circle. She worked for the Newark Air Force Station, where she met her husband, Leland, and retired from the Muskingum County Commissioner’s Office in 1995. After retirement, she continued to work for Wilson’s Garden Center and the Longaberger Homestead. Mary regularly volunteered at the voter’s polls and as a 4-H advisor. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, puzzles, and word finds but what Mary loved the most was spending time with her family.
Surviving is her daughter, Lori (Tracy) Dunbar of Nashport; granddaughter Sara (Alex Staley) Somers; great granddaughter, Ellie Staley, a great grandson due in June and a niece, Dina (James) Davis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Leland J. Christensen whom she married May 1, 1962, and who died January 14, 2023; granddaughter, Katie Christensen; sister, Dixie Turner and a nephew, Danny Satterfield.
Friends and family may call Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 1:00pm at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Beyer officiating. A committal service will follow at the cemetery.
Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
