Melanie B. Hamilton, 67, of Zanesville, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Genesis Hospice Care Morrison House with her husband and children by her side. She was born on January 11, 1955, in Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Donald D. and Mary B. Ferrell of Zanesville.
She was a graduate of Ohio University and taught third grade at the former St. Thomas School of Zanesville from 1977 – 1983 before becoming a homemaker. A lifelong member of Euclid Avenue United Methodist Church, she also volunteered for the Zanesville City School System where her children attended.
Surviving are her husband, Gary E. Hamilton, whom she married May 14, 1977; and their three children: Ashley (Shawn) Zeiter, Andrew (Valerie) Hamilton and Alexa (AJ) Hoffman; five grandchildren: James Hoffman, Olivia and Nora Zeiter, Miles and Ella Hamilton; a brother, James F. Ferrell of Dayton, OH; and her Bichon Frisé,Truman.
A dignified cremation has taken place. Private services will be held at a later date.
