Melvin E. Pittman
March 3, 1940 - May 2, 2025 (Age 85)
Melvin E. Pittman, age 85 of Quarryville, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025 at the Lebanon VA Hospital. He was the husband of the late Helen V. Hummel Pittman who died on June 6, 2020. Born in Bedford, PA he was the son of the late Albert J. and Carrie Elizabeth Layton Pittman.
Mel had been employed as a truck driver for Prange Trucking for 50 years.
A very proud veteran, Mel served in the US Army as a PFC. He was inducted in 1960 and served 16 months in Korea and finished his service at Ft. Hood, Killeen TX until his discharge in 1963.
Mel was a member of Lampeter United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 865, Christiana, and a lifetime member of the NRA.
Mel and Helen had traveled all over and across the United States in their RV. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a daughter, Vicki (Ronald) Henderson of Lancaster; 4 grandchildren, Greg (Nicole) Henderson, Matthew McFalls, Nicole (Matthew) Althouse, Conner McFalls; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Deborah L. McFalls and son in law Brian D. McFalls; a grandson Ronald Henderson, Jr.; and all of his eight siblings.
Funeral services will be held at Lampeter United Methodist Church, 1101 Village Road, Lampeter, PA on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. John G. Smith officiating. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in Riverview Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, it would be Mel’s wish that you would thank a veteran for their service to this country. Arrangements entrusted to Murray A. Miller.
