Rock Hill, SC – Michael Lee Threatt, 69, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Grandview Memorial Park – Cherry Road, 620 S. Cherry Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Michael was born in Rock Hill, SC on September 5, 1955 and was the son of the late Gordon Lee Threatt and the late Gladys Caldwell Threatt.
Michael had challenges as a child and found his perfect match in Special Education classes during his school years. After school, he began working at Bilo’s grocery store, bagging groceries. Being a social personality type, he loved that job and came to know many of the customers who seemed to enjoy seeing him, a familiar face in the store.
When their father died, Michael went into a supervised living program with the York County Board of Disabilities. After his health declined, he entered a nursing home, where he has lived for almost 10 years. Following the death of their mother, his sister, Karen has strived to care well for him.
When he was in better health, he attended Epworth Methodist Church. He would walk, leaving early at around 4:30 am, so he could make the coffee. The church was only 3 blocks away.
Michael is survived by his sister, Karen Ferguson (Stan); his nephew, Lee Ferguson (Brooks) and Lee’s 3 children; and many cousins and friends.
The family would like to give thanks to Pruitt Healthcare and PMC for their care of Michael. We also thank Sharing Hope Ministry, the organization for organ procurement. Sharing Hope has supported our family through our loss by ensuring that Michael’s life will carry on in their recipients.
