Miguel Angel Reyes

Miguel Angel Reyes, 83, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Miguel was born November 19, 1938 in Manati, Puerto Rico.

Miguel was a man of strong character and faith who was a role model to his family and the people in his community. He came to New York City in 1957 from Puerto Rico and taught himself English through newspaper articles and the radio. He met his wife, Lourdes Reyes, in early 1966 at a social dance and were married on September 30, 1967. He worked for and retired from the Union Local #32B-J in 1997 after a 40 year career. Through his involvement with his church in New York, St. Nicholas of Tolentine Catholic Church, he touched many lives leading AA meetings and providing an example of family and commitment to leading a positive life since 1988. Miguel and Lourdes decided to retire in 2007 and move to Charlotte, NC.

Being from Queens NY, Miguel was an avid fan of the New York Mets. He enjoyed the movies, walks in the park, and taking his grandchildren to the beach. His wisdom, experience, humility, kindness, and dedication to all those in his life will be greatly missed.

Miguel is pre-deceased by his parents, Julio and Mercedes Reyes; his brothers, Rafael Reyes and Julio Reyes; his sister, Gladys Reyes; and his great-grandchildren, Zoey Hardy and Isaac Hardy.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lourdes Reyes; his son, Ricardo Reyes (Terry); his daughter, Cyndia Corrigan (Scott); his grandchildren, Anthony Reyes (Jovan), Blanca Reyes (Eddie), Miguel Reyes (Amber), Jasmine Reyes-Nunez (Gregory), Christopher Corrigan, and Sierra Corrigan; his great-grandchildren, Aubrey Hardy, Jayden Nunez, Emma Hardy, Savannah Reyes, Julian Reyes, Leilani Reyes, Grayson Nunez, Elias Hardy, and Xavier Reyes; his sisters, Gloria Perez and Vilma Reyes (Franco); his brothers, Jose Reyes Sr. and Willie Reyes, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Visitation for Miguel will be held Monday, May 9, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Charlotte, NC 28227. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28211. A graveside service will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina 28227. Following the graveside service, the family invites everyone to a repas which will held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 8451 Idlewild Rd, Charlotte, NC 28227.
