Mildred Smith

Mildred L. Smith passed away Thursday, February 15, 2024 peacefully at home. She was born December 7, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland and was a 1946 graduate of Everett High School. She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, William F. Smith; parents, David A. Spamer and Lillian Smelz Spamer; step-mother Marjorie Spamer; step-father Paul F. Anstine; Son Bernard W. Smith; son-in-law Charles J. Meloy; granddaughter Heidi L. Klahre; and siblings Elizabeth (Bette) Aquiar; David A. Spamer; and Paul E. Anstine Jr.

She is survived by her children, Elsie (Charles) Meloy and Sandra (Kenneth R.) Klahre and daughter-in-law Ruth (Venglik) Smith; sister Mary Johnson and brother George (Tom, married to Laura) Spamer; sister-in-law Ella Bussard; as well as grandchildren Sherri (Dirk) Smith; John R. (Ginny) Meloy, William E. Klahre, Brianne N. (Brent) Brennan, and great-grandchildren Jenni Meloy, Annika Meloy, Mazie Smith, Declan Smith, Betsy Brennan, Blake Brennan, and Belle Brennan; great-great grandchildren Silas Woodson and Ruby Mueller; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Mildred retired from the Lion Manufacturing Company after 26 years. She attended Community Grace Church. She loved quilting, sewing and crocheting.

The family would like to thank Dr. Baer, nurses Kaitlyn Grimes, Stacey Crissy, and caregivers Chelsea Morral, Dana Lowe and Jamie Stiffler for their loving and compassionate care.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, February 19, 2024 at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA from 4-7 P.M. and on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the Community Grace Church at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jeff Peeler and Pastor Lee Seese officiating.

Entombment will occur at Bedford County Memorial Park.
