Nancy Bridges

On Monday, January 29, 2024, Nancy G. Bridges of Greensburg, age 67, passed away peacefully after a courageous, four-year battle with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). She was at home surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was a graduate of Hempfield Area Senior High School. She earned a Baccalaureate Degree in Criminology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, followed by a degree in Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. Her career began as a Security Agent at Sears-Roebuck in Greensburg. Subsequently she was employed by West Penn Power (First Energy) for 41 years, where she ended her career as a Claims Representative. She retired in 2019.

Nancy’s personal interests included hiking in the Laurel Mountains and biking the area’s Rails-to-Trails. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and enjoyed going to games and watching the team on TV, even when they were losing. In fact, her favorite outfit was a Manny Sanguillén and Steve Blass-autographed ball cap and her Pirates shirt. Nancy also enjoyed playing softball and volleyball and traveling with her sports-team friends to New York City. She loved spending time with family and dogs (Sammy, Ripley, and Maizey), and she especially loved spoiling her nephews and great niece and great nephew. Her travels also included trips to Rehoboth and Sunset Beaches with family and with her loyal canine companions. Other passions included “I Love Lucy” and the Hallmark Channel, especially the Christmas shows. People who knew her would describe her as a lovable “prankster” and loyal friend, who never spoke badly of anyone.

She is survived by her loving spouse and companion of 22 years Deborah Muir, as well as her brother, Rob (Michele) Bridges of Lower Burrell, PA; her sister-in-law, Carole Bridges (Donald) of Greensburg; her nephew Robert Bridges (Jillian Ma) of the California Bay Area; nephew Derek Bridges (Amber Stuver) of eastern Pennsylvania; great niece, Annabelle Bridges-Ma; and great nephew, Eli Stone Bridges-Ma.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Donald O. Bridges, Sr., her mother, Bernice (Bunny) Smith Bridges, and her brother, Donald O. Bridges, Jr.

Respectful of Nancy’s wishes, there will be no public services, but rather a Celebration of Nancy’s Life, date and place to be determined. The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Heritage Hospice, Becky at the Physical Therapy office at Medical Commons II, and neighbors and friends for their love and support.
