Nancy L. Chappelear
January 30, 1946 - March 2, 2025 (Age 79)
Nancy (Chipps) Chappelear, 79, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, at Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio. She was born on January 30, 1946, in Morgan County, Ohio, to the late William and Edith Chipps.
Nancy dedicated her career to serving as an administrative assistant for Zanesville City Schools, where her diligence and kindness left a lasting impact. Beyond her professional life, she was a devoted member of the New Concord church of Christ. Her faith was central to her life, and she expressed it through teaching Bible classes and serving others with unwavering compassion. Even during times of illness, she remained a source of encouragement and support for those around her.
Nancy found great joy in attending church events and supporting her grandsons in their various activities, whether at sporting events or concerts. She was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds, always cheering on her favorite teams. Known for her thoughtfulness, she frequently sent cards to uplift others and never hesitated to put the needs of those she loved before her own.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Donald Chappelear of Zanesville; daughter Rhonda (Matt) Pennington of Zanesville; son Jerry Chappelear of Roseville; grandsons Aaron Chappelear, Cole Pennington, and Clay Pennington; brother Larry (Mary Ellen) Chipps of McConnelsville; sister-in-law Donna Chipps of Beverly; great-aunt Annabel Rohrer of Hilliard; sister-in-law Irma Anguish of Snellville, GA; brother and sister-in-law Harmon and Carolyn Thomas of Malta; and many nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Bill Chipps; special uncle Bob Doak; brother-in-law Ralph Anguish and beloved great-niece Gracie Belle Harmon.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Burrell Funeral Services, 414 LaSalle Street, Zanesville, OH. A funeral service will be held on March 7, 2025, at 11:00AM at New Concord church of Christ, located at 13333 Maple Lane, New Concord, Ohio, 43762 with Evangelist Terry Townsend officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park in Zanesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nancy's honor to New Concord church of Christ.
