Nancy Tompkins

Nancy Dotson Tompkins, 89, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on August 15, 2026. Born January 30, 1937, Nancy will be remembered with deep respect and enduring gratitude for a life marked by steadfast faith, devotion to family, and generous service to others.
Nancy attended Central High School in Spindale, NC, where the foundations of her life’s journey were formed.
Nancy loved her husband, with whom she made many beautiful memories, and her heart remained closely tied to the family they built together. She cherished her children, Johnny and Cynthia, who filled her heart every day.
A woman of varied interests, Nancy enjoyed Nascar racing, Carolina Panthers football, and working with children—pursuits that reflected her enthusiasm for life.
Nancy was a devoted member of Bible Baptist Church in Matthews NC. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, as well as after-school Bible Study. It was important to her that the children in her church community had the opportunity to learn about God and the Bible, and she gave her time with purpose and consistency.
Above all, Nancy’s legacy is rooted in her love of the Lord. She took every opportunity to witness and give her testimony about God's love, offering encouragement and conviction through the example of her faith.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy N. Tompkins, and her parents, Ed & Dorothy Dotson. She is survived by her two children, Johnny Tompkins (Connie) of Weddington NC, and Cynthia Tompkins Rudisill (John) of Maiden NC; her cherished granddaughter, Emily Tompkins Jones (Carson) of Charlotte NC and her sister, Harriett Green of Jacksonville, FL.

Family will receive friends at Bible Baptist Church, 2724 Margaret Wallace Rd, Matthews, NC 28105, US, on Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am.
Nancy will be laid to rest following the service at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill, NC.
