Ned Spencer

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Ned Spencer 68, of North Canton, formally of Duncan Falls on Oct 2nd, 2022.

Ned was born on March 6th 1954, to Anna Mae (Long) Spencer and the late Charles J. Spencer.

Ned was a 1972 Graduate of Philo High School and was a letterman in baseball, football, and basketball. He was a 1978 Graduate of Muskingum University, where he played college baseball. Following his passion for baseball, Ned played for the Junior and Senior Pioneers. Ned was inducted into the Muskingum Valley Old Timers Association Baseball Hall of fame in 1994. Ned went on to Coach Baseball for Philo High School. Ned retired after 34 years as a supervisor from Muskingum County Job and Family Services.

Ned is survived by his wife Dorothy Armour Spencer of 22 years, his Mother Anna Mae Spencer, two daughters Brianne (Adam) Shook, Dalynne Spencer, one son Christian Cook and his Grandson Spencer Shook, as well as his fur baby Jag. He is preceded in death by his Father, Charles J. Spencer, his Grandparents Charles Oscar and Lucille Spencer and William and Gertrude Long. His dear friend and fishing buddy Jeff Bennett.

The simplest pleasures in life brought him great joy. Ned loved his annual fishing trip to Canada, golfing, and spending time on his house boat at Atwood Lake, where many great friends and memories were made.

With honoring Ned's wishes, there will be a private grave side service at Zanesville Memorial Park with Pastor Jamie Harrop officiating. There will be celebration of life on Oct 6th from 5-8 at Chef Steve's at 730 Putman Ave Zanesville.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be establishing a scholarship fund in memory of Ned. If a donation is made, please include his name with your donation. Donations can be made to Muskingum County Community foundation 534 Putman Ave Zanesville, Ohio

Donations in his memory can also be made to Gentle Brook, Layfette Meadows Residential Care Facility for adults with developmental disabilities 22000 Orchard St West Layfette Ohio.
