December 27, 1935 - December 2, 2024 (Age 88)

Norma Jean Foutz, 88, of Midland, MD, beloved wife, mother, and Nannie passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024 at UPMC Mercy, Pittsburgh, PA.

Born December 27, 1935, in Hyndman, PA she was the daughter of the late Lloyd James and Edna (Hosselrode) Martz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, by the love of her life, her husband of 61 years, William Charles Foutz; her siblings, James Martz, Robert Martz, Ronald Martz, Neva Sands, and Shirley Scarbrough.

Jean was a homemaker while her children were home. After they had grown she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.

Jean was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church of Midland. Jean enjoyed playing the accordion since childhood, as well as the organ and piano later in life. For over twelve years she and her husband, Bill, enjoyed playing in the Winebrenner Gospel Band.

Family was most important to Jean, and she loved the time she spent with them. She especially enjoyed family vacations, camping, cooking, joking around, and watching her favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jean had an infectious laugh and a smile that brightened the room.

Jean is survived by her four children, Linda Kerling and husband Tom of Lonaconing, MD, Bill Foutz and wife Sonia of Rawlings, MD, Kathy Willison and husband Tim of Greencastle, PA, and Chuck Foutz, Sr. and wife Sharon of Hope Mills, NC; eight grandchildren, Brian Kerling and wife Bobbie, Tommy Kerling, Jr. and wife Becky, Lisa Moreland and husband Zach, Ryan Foutz and wife Erin, Mandy Willison, Jessie Willison, Chuck Foutz, Jr. and girlfriend Whitley, and Joshua Foutz and wife Ashley; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Dennis, Matthew, Andrew, Abel, Aniston, Callie, Addison, Charlie, and Charles III; and a very large extended family including nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dearest friend of over 40 years, Carol Richards and family.

Visitation will be Friday, December 6th from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, MD. A funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Marjorie Hurder Buhrman officiating.

Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, MD.
