Ollie L. Polk Martin
January 6, 1949 - September 24, 2022 (Age 73)
Elder Ollie L. Polk Martin was born to the late William and Sadie Little of Polkton, NC on January 6, 1949. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She gave her life to Jesus Christ at the age of twelve. Ollie graduated from East Polkton High School as Valedictorian in 1967. She received an associate degree in Business Administration and Early Childhood Development from Central Piedmont Community College. Afterwards, she received a bachelor's in nursing from Cabarrus Hospital School of Nursing and UNC. She then went on to obtain her Cosmetology and Esthetics License as well as her Cosmetology Instructor's License. She also received her Associate of Arts in Theology from Grace Biblical Institute in 2021.
During her lifetime she was a Registered Nurse for 25 years. Her passion for serving the community reached deep into many different avenues. She was an entrepreneur. Her accomplishments were shown through her many talents and business adventures which included OJ’s Day Care 1 and 2, A1 Cleaning Service, Martin’s One Stop Beauty Clinic and Unique Boutique. Ollie loved playing her piano and reading her bible. She was a kind, loving, and Godly woman who will be missed dearly.
Service will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Kannapolis, 1311 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Kannapolis, NC. Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM with services at 12:00 PM. A burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill, NC 29227
Ollie married John Polk, Sr. and from this union had three sons, John Jr., James, and Ervin D. who preceded his mother in death.
Ollie is survived by her sons, Minister John, and his wife Elder Erlisa; James and his partner Angela. Grandchildren: Jonathan, Joshua (Tayliah) and Jasmine. Sister Effie Hill (Willard), Brothers Joe Little (Daisy), Robert Little, and Alexander Little (Cora), a special friend, Joann Moore as well a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces, and many beloved friends.
