Reverend Orlo D. Freshly

Reverend Orlo Dale Freshly, 89, of Zanesville, passed away at 11:38 a.m. Tue. Sept. 28, 2021 at Genesis Hospital Emergency Room. He was born on June 11, 1932 in East Rochester, Ohio, a son of the late Lawrence Dennis Freshly and Myrtle E. Dager Freshly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Carol Anne Miller Freshly to whom he was married for 56 years, two brothers Lawrence Junior Freshly and Charles Robert Dager, one grandson Jacob William Baker, one niece Judith Lynn Dager Tittle.
He is survived by his four children Lexa Freshly, Lezlee (Carl) Baker, Lindsay (Jennifer) Freshly, and Lora (Brent) Sidwell. Grandchildren whom he was proud of: Mallory (Clint) Hughes, Alex (Dakota) Sidwell, Douglas (Michelle) Sidwell, Bryce Sidwell, Connor (Josie Miracle) Sidwell, Tristan (Makenzie Lee) Freshly, Gabrielle Freshly, and Sabrina Freshly. Great-grandchildren who were a blessing to him: Hannah Carol Hughes, Eva Hope Hughes, and Elijah Douglas Sidwell. Sister-in-law Marjorie (Daniel) Klinger. Several nieces and nephews.
He attended school in Minerva, Ohio where he was valedictorian in his junior high class of 1946 and graduated in 1950. He graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky and then from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio in 1955. He was a United Methodist minister for over a half century performing over 200 weddings and a couple hundred funerals which he made very personal and he served churches in Raymond, Pandora, New Holland/Atlanta, Goshen/Edenton, South Zanesville, Avondale (Columbus) and finally at Rolling Plains where he was the leader of pastoral care. He was an avid Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds fan. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. He was an avid gardener specializing in dried gourds which he would exhibit at the county fair and won many blue ribbons. He was a faithful servant who loved the Lord and loved sharing the Gospel to people to guide them to Jesus and eternal life.
