Oscar W. Stayer

December 1, 1935 - May 13, 2025 (Age 89)

Oscar W. "Wayne" "Pop" Stayer, 89, of Denver, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Ephrata Manor.

He was born in La Verne, CA, son of the late Arthur B. and Ruth A. (Fyoch) Stayer and was the husband of Doris (Gehman) Stayer with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.

Oscar was a very caring and loving man and took care of his family the best way he could. He taught his children how to do many things. He enjoyed taking care of his 3 large gardens. He enjoyed tinkering in his home workshop and fixing and making updates to his house. He was very supportive of church, missionaries, and helping others, as much as he could.

Oscar worked as a truck mechanic for Messick's Chevrolet, Ephrata, Abe Summers Trucking (also a part-time driver), Ephrata, Dutchman's Trucking Service, Denver, and Wayne Stayer Truck Repairs, Reinholds, prior to his retirement in 2001

In addition to his wife, Oscar is survived by 6 children, Timothy W. Stayer, married to Hope W., Althea R., married to Steve Bonner, Beth E., married to Tom Brower, Benjamin C. Stayer, married to Bobbie, Dorcas A., married to Doug Williams, and Edward J. Stayer; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Arthur and Lewis Stayer; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter, 1 great-grandson, a brother, George Stayer, and a sister, Dorothy Nolt.

A viewing will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 10 to 11 AM at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM, with son-in-law, Doug Williams officiating. Interment will take place in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.
