Patricia Ann Stanley

July 4, 1943 - November 17, 2023 (Age 80)

Patricia Ann Stanley was called home to be with the Lord on Friday November 17, 2023.

Known as Pat to most and Patty to family and close friends, she was born in Harlem, NY, on July 4, 1943, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Bradley Boyd. She grew up in Manhasset, NY and attended Manhasset Valley elementary school and Manhasset Jr. High School before moving to Washington DC for her senior years. There, she attended and graduated from Anacostia High School.

Patricia returned to Long Island, NY, after graduation, where she attended Molloy College in Rockville Centre to become a nurse. She worked privately in homes where she cherished and was cherished by the families she took care of before transitioning to hospital care. During this time she met Charles Stanley at a holiday party thrown by her grandfather’s next door neighbor. In his words, “she lit up the room”. Charles eventually moved from Connecticut to New York to be with Patricia and they were married in Great Neck, NY on New Year’s Eve 1982.

They moved to Uniondale, NY where Patricia worked at Nassau County Medical Center until her retirement. They remained in their home until April of 2023 when they moved to Matthews, NC, to receive the support and care of their family.

Patricia enjoyed reading, writing poetry and short stories, watching game shows especially Jeopardy! She also took pleasure in thrifting with her youngest child and communing with nature and animals which she passed down to her oldest child. Her greatest joy was becoming a grandmother to her 3 long awaited grandchildren to whom she was affectionately known as “Memy”

She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and shared the Good News of His Salvation, love and faithfulness to family and community, not just by words but actions. In that spirit of love and faith, she loved people. If you needed food, she fed you. If you needed prayer, she prayed for you. If you needed a home, she opened hers up to you. If you needed a friend she befriended you and if you were sad, she would make you laugh like no one else could. Patricia was the Life of the party and the party was wherever she was. She had both the gift of gab and the gift of laughter, whether it was coming from her or she made it bubble up in you like a spring. Patricia truly carried strength in joy.

Patricia leaves behind her husband Charles Lee Stanley, her daughters Paris Henry and Stacy Moore; and her grandchildren: Charles Patrick, Tia Elizabeth and Dara Alyssa. She is further survived by a host of beloved family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward Boyd, Jr. and Elizabeth Doris Bradley and her grandparents, David and Edna Hampton.

Patricia’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them. Friends may call upon the family beginning at 10 am on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. At 11 am, a service honoring her love, life and blessing will be held in the funeral home chapel. Following the service, she will be taken to her final place of earthly rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227
