Patricia W. Aycoth

December 5, 1936 - May 31, 2025 (Age 88)

Pat Aycoth, 88, of Cornelius NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30.

She was born on December 5, 1936 in Matthews NC. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, James (Jim) Aycoth; by her beloved daughter, Lynn Aycoth Harris; by her parents Joseph and Macie Hooks Williams; four loving brothers, Joe (Helen), Turner (Louise), Jimmy (Jean), and Alvin (Venetia); and four loving sisters, Lillian Bussells (Billy), Ellen Zeitler (Wilson), Mary Miller (Pete), and Linda Forbis (Richard).

Pat is survived by her son John Aycoth and his wife Lisa of Indian Trail NC; and her son-in-law Eric and his wife Karen of Alpharetta GA. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Zoe Harris Lu (Kevin), Bayne Harris (Gracie), Cameron Laine Aycoth, and Donald James “Jake” Aycoth; her handsome great grandchildren, Owen Lu and Jayce Harris; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Pat graduated from East Mecklenburg High School where she was a Marshall and a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Central Piedmont Community College. She worked 7 years for Interstate Securities Corporation and retired after 25 years from the City of Charlotte where she worked in community development.

Pat loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She never missed a chance to attend school functions/activities to show her support and she was ALWAYS the first to hand out money for good grades. She was patient and kind, read requested books over and over long after the parents said they weren’t reading the book again, always had their favorite snacks and movies on hand, and was known for her sausage balls, chicken casserole, and pistachio dessert. And never did she believe that her grandchildren did anything wrong.

Pat also enjoyed her many friends at the YMCA, her Nifty Fifty friends from high school, and the women of her church, Bethel Presbyterian. For the last 10 years of her life, she loved her beautiful retirement home at Williams Place in Davidson NC and enjoyed playing Bingo and Rummikub with her dear friends there.

Pat loved living at the lake and all the family and friends that gathered there over the years. She loved her glass of wine at the end of each day and wanted everyone around her to be happy. Her sunny disposition and positive outlook will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 1:00 to 2:00PM at McEwen Funeral Service- Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Road Mint Hill, NC 28227, with a service of celebration of Pat's life to follow. Pat will be laid to rest in the mausoleum at Sunset Memory Gardens.
