Patty M. Pressley
July 9, 1933 - June 25, 2022 (Age 88)
Patty Mullis "Pat" Pressley, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, passed away early Saturday morning, June 25, 2022. She was 88 years old.
She was born to the late Watson and Bertha Mullis on July 9, 1933, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Patty was a member of the first graduating class of East Mecklenburg High School in 1950. She helped choose the school colors and mascot.
She married the late John F. Pressley at Wilson Grove Baptist Church on March 9, 1952 and made their home in Mint Hill where they raised their four children. John predeceased her on May 1, 2011.
Patty is survived by her four children, Doug Pressley and wife, Jody, of Mint Hill, Rick Pressley and wife, Tina, of Mint Hill, Sandy Pressley Riggins and husband, Bob, of Mount Holly, and Sherry Pressley Dickerson of Charlotte. She is also survived by her five grandsons, Jason Pressley (Tiffany), Chris Pressley, Corey Pressley, Dustin Pressley (Ashley), and Cliff Riggins; a granddaughter, Keely Riggins Hayes (Tyler); and six great-granddaughters, Haylee, Paige, Payton, Piper, Laura and Selah. Patty was also survived by her two brothers, Fred Mullis and Don Mullis; and her sister, Blandina Sadler. She was immensely proud of her family, they brought her great joy.
Patty was a long time member of Wilson Grove Baptist Church. She loved quilting, bowling, cooking and working in her yard. She also enjoyed reading and playing word search. Later in life she spent approximately 20 years working at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel. She had a gift of soothing emotions after the passing of a loved one. After retiring she went on to volunteer at Novant Matthews for many years. She loved being around people and many were blessed by her love and care.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, North Carolina. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends following the committal service at the cemetery.
