Pietra Raia Viola
July 20, 1931 - December 4, 2021 (Age 90)
Pietra Viola was born on July 20, 1931 in Roccamena, Sicily and went to be with Our Lord on December 4, 2021. She is survived by her, four children Giuseppa and spouse Jack Brucia (Matthews, NC), George Viola (Queens, NY), Pietra and spouse Giacomo Virgadamo (Matthews, NC), Gioacchino and spouse Dawn Viola (Queens, NY) Nine Grandchildren, Peter Brucia and Spouse Natalie Marcinko-Brucia, Flavia Brucia and Dan Cooper , Dr. Sebastiano Virgadamo and spouse Jessica Hackney-Virgadamo, Josephine Virgadamo-Maness and spouse John Maness, Sarah Viola-Rehberger and spouse Allen Rehberger, Pietrina Brucia-Peshel and spouse Joshua Peshel, Jessica Viola and Trail Pierce, Christopher Viola, Daniella Viola. And nine Great Grandchildren, Lilliana Brucia, Jack Brucia, Giacomo Virgadamo, Giovanna Maness, Jackson Peshel, Anthony Brucia, and Joseph David Rehberger. Additionally, she is survived by her two sisters Anna Foto and Gaudenzia Cipolla . She was preceded by her loving husband Vitale Viola and parents Gioacchino and Pietra Raia
Pietra grew up in Sicily where she worked as a seamstress, in 1970 she moved to the United States (New York) with her family and continued to sharpen her skills working in the fashion industry. She moved to Matthews, North Carolina in 1994, where she spent much of her time cooking, sewing, knitting, and crocheting for the family and neighbors. Pietra will be remembered by all for her devotion to the Lord and family.
Visitations for Pietra will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina 28227. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 1:00 PM at St. Luke Catholic Church, 13700 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina 28227, with a committal service following at Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28227.
