Ralph J. Corvino
April 1, 1943 – August 19, 2026 (Age 83)
Ralph J. Corvino Sr. , 83, of North Huntingdon, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 1, 1943, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Dominic and Joan “Jennie” (DelCampo) Corvino. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Corvino, infant daughter, Christina Corvino and son-in-law, Timothy Gross.
Ralph was proud to be a US Army veteran, having served in Vietnam and the Army Reserves. Prior to his retirement, Ralph worked as a welder at Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh until closure. He then was the dock supervisor, working for the U.S. Postal Service in Youngwood for several years.
Ralph was a lifetime member of the Hartford Heights VFD and club. He found great joy in the simple things in life ~hunting, fishing, shooting, playing baseball, and cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh sports teams. He enjoyed vacationing in Cancun with his wife, Mary Jo on numerous occasions. But above all else, he cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were his pride and joy, and the time he spent with them was truly the greatest treasure of his life. His grandchildren will forever carry with them, the memories of his love, laughter, and guidance. He enjoyed every minute of babysitting them when he was able.
Ralph is survived by his children , Annette Gross, Ralph Corvino Jr., Raymond Corvino, Justin Corvino, Marcus Corvino, Kristie (Tim) Collins and Bobbie Jo ( Matt) Rodgers; eleven special grandchildren, Steven (Allie) Gross, Brian (Courtney) Gross, Matthew (Jill) Gross, Mitchell (Mary) Gross, Anthony Corvino, Joshua (Heather) Corvino, Tiffany Corvino, Candice (Nathan) Mitchell, Deanna Corvino, Gabbi Collins and Tessa Collins ; and eight special great-grandchildren, Lena and Vincent Gross, Josie Gross, Gage Gross, Alexander Corvino, Cohen and Coleson Corvino and, Rowan Mitchell; sister, Patricia M. Corvino and Alison; brother, Robert (Sherry) Corvino; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. Ralph is also survived by his close friend, Beverly Kratovil. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors near and far.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, 724-446-7251. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in the morning on Monday, Aug.24, 2026, in Immaculate Conception Church , Irwin, with Father Vijay Kumar as celebrant. Interment with full military honors will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Twp.
