Richard L. Pool

Richard Larry Pool, known to family and friends as Larry, passed away on September 7, 2026, in Huntersville, North Carolina, at the age of 84. Born on August 17, 1942, in Marietta, Georgia, he lived a life marked by devotion to his family, his work, his faith, and the many simple joys that made each day meaningful.

Larry was a loving, kind, and passionate man whose presence brought warmth and steadiness to those around him. He was a Christian whose faith guided the way he lived, and he carried himself with a quiet strength that reflected his values. Those who knew him best will remember his generous spirit, his sense of humor, and the deep love he had for the people who made up his world.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Cecelia “Cedy” Pool; his son, Robert Pool; his brother, Ronald Pool; his father, Francis Pool; and his mother, Sarah Pool. Larry treasured his family above all else, and the bonds he shared with them remained one of the greatest blessings of his life. He is survived by his daughter, Stacy Clark and her husband, JR, of Charlotte, North Carolina; his sister, Janice Fort and her husband, Joe, of Columbia, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Caden Austin of Charlotte, North Carolina, Miley Austin of Charlotte, North Carolina, Brody Austin of Charlotte, North Carolina, Brittany Scott and her husband Jon, of Chatham County, North Carolina, Cassey Beal and her husband John Mark, of Chatham County, North Carolina, and Bryson Pool of Chatham County, North Carolina; and three great-grandchildren.

Larry was a proud graduate of East Mecklenburg High School and later attended Charlotte College, before it became UNC Charlotte. He built a career as a sales broker and in banking, where he was known for his professionalism, his integrity, and his ability to connect with people. He approached his work with dedication and a strong sense of responsibility, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Throughout his life, he valued hard work and carried himself with the confidence of a man who understood the importance of honesty and perseverance.

One of the most cherished chapters of Larry’s life began in the 1960s when he sang and played guitar in the popular local band "Saxons". It was through music that he met the love of his life, “Cedy,” and that beginning blossomed into a marriage filled with love, companionship, and shared memories that lasted more than five decades. Their life together was a testament to loyalty and devotion, and the love they built remained a lasting example to their family.

Larry found great joy in the outdoors and in the comfort of home. He was an avid gardener who loved tending to his yard, taking pride in the beauty he helped create with his own hands. He also enjoyed playing golf, following the stock market, and watching Fox News. He was a huge fan of UNC Charlotte football and took great pride in cheering on his team. Above all, he loved being present for his grandchildren and was deeply involved in watching them in their sports activities, where he could be found supporting them with enthusiasm and pride.

His family will remember Larry for the many ways he showed his love, whether through a thoughtful word, a steady presence, or the simple act of being there when it mattered most. He was a man who valued family gatherings, celebrated milestones, and took genuine interest in the lives of those he loved. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him immense happiness, and he treasured every opportunity to share in their lives.

Larry’s life was one of faith, family, and enduring love. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to his family and friends.
