Richard M. Ferri

Of Monroeville, age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Richard was the dear and loving companion of Mary "Tina" Kritko for 42 years.

He was the devoted father of Kevin Ferri of Wilkins Twp., Scott (Regina) Ferri of Monroeville and Tanya (Charles) Shumaker if Oakmont.

Richard was the dear grandfather of Jason and Brendan Ferri; Samantha (Mark) Wertz and Shelby (Dustin) Mahood.

Richard was a 1955 graduate of Turtle Creek High School, and even during those early years he was already learning the value of responsibility. While in high school, he worked at his family grocery store, Ferri’s Market in Turtle Creek, where he began a lifelong commitment to honest work and service to others. After graduation, he continued full time with the family market and eventually went on to own and operate his own store, Ferri’s Market on Lebanon Road in West Mifflin.

After years of ownership, he was economically forced to close his store because of the growing competition from “big store” hours on Sundays and late nights. Though that chapter came to an end, he then built a new career in home improvement sales, where he continued to work with dedication and professionalism.

In addition to his work, Richard also served his country by serving in the U.S. Army Reserves.

His favorite pastime was rooting for Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Steelers.

Friends are welcome on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350 where Blessing Service will be held on Monday at 12 noon.

Richard will be laid to rest with Military Honors in Penn Lincoln Cemetery.
