Richard Paul Gummo, 77, of Penn, formerly of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, after spending his final days surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 11, 1949, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late John Edward Sr. and Rita Pauline (Foster) Gummo.

Rick was a graduate of Penn Joint High School and served in the US Army as a medic. He retired from Westmoreland Manor after 33 years’ service as a nurse’s aide. Rick had a deep love for his faith, being a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, North Huntingdon, for 40 years until his health deteriorated. He loved spending time with family and traveling. He visited Rome, Portugal and his most favorite was Medjugorji, having been there eight times. His friendly smile will be missed by all who passed through his life.

In addition to his parents he is predeceased in death by his older brother John Edward Gummo, Jr.

He is survived by his sister, Suzanne (Gummo) Breig, his brothers Dennis Carl Gummo and Franklin James (Joanne) Gummo, and several nephews and cousins.

The family would like to especially thank his best friend, James Ankrom who moved in with Rick to care for him until his passing and to Excela Health Hospice insuring Rick was able to pass with ease in his own home.

Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 21, at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main St., Irwin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday June 22, in St. Agnes Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church in his name.
