Richard A. Ritenour, Sr.

Richard "Rick" A. Ritenour Sr. 69, of Jeannette, PA, formerly of South Connellsville, PA was welcomed home into the arms of Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Christmas Eve December 24, 2023 at home with his loving wife of 32 years by his side after a courageous battle with Esophageal Cancer. He was born May 6, 1954 in Connellsville, PA a son of the late Omer and Betty (Bates) Ritenour. In addition to his parents and in laws Edward and Betty Berardinelli, he was preceded in death by his sons Eric in 2017 and Michael in 2019, his sister in law Florence Pratt in 2019 and his ex wife and mother of his three children Debra Hiltabidel in 2022. Rick was a beloved husband, father, brother, pappy, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many. Rick will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend Caryl. They did everything together by choice and their love grew stronger by their unwavering faith in God's promise despite the many family tragedies they experienced. He will also be greatly missed by his son Richard Ritenour Jr. and his wife Lyndsey, his daughter Misty Callahan and Chris Sandusky, his son in law Kliff Callahan and his bonus son Joseph Gombach III and his wife Dani. He was proud pappy to granddaughters Kyra, Kassidy and Kourtney Callahan (K1, K2, K3), Madison Ritenour and Bella Long. Loving brother to Timothy Ritenour and wife Debbie, his little sister Susan Trout and husband Melvin, as well as brother in laws Edward Berardinelli Jr. and Gregory Berardinelli and his wife Barbara and his two dogs Diesel and Diego. Rick was a glass maker , having worked for Anchor Hocking, American Stemware and St. George Crystal. He later became a balancer at FS Elliott before retiring. He was a life member and former Fire Chief (1989) of the South Connellsville VFD, later a member of Grandview VFD, social member of Claridge VFD, South Connellsville Rod and Gun Club and the MAC Riders. The family would like to especially thank Chris, Yvonne and Laurie at Heartland Hospice for the care given to Rick. Rick was a man of faith and worshipped at Murrysville Alliance Church. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory can be made to Murrysville Alliance Church at 4130 Old William Penn Hwy, Murrysville PA 15668or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital @st.jude.org. Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. 201 N. First St. Jeannette. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Dan Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow in Jeannette Memorial Park.
