Richard C. Walthour, 91, of Greensburg, died Monday, January 15, 2024, in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. He was born April 27, 1932, in Greensburg, a son of the late Willis and Juliette (Peterson) Walthour. He was a graduate of Greensburg High School. He was an Army veteran stationed in France during the Korean Conflict, where he was responsible for guarding the Treasures of Paris. Prior to retirement he had been a supervisor for Bell Telephone Company. Richard assisted in implementing the 911 system in Westmoreland County in 1979. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Claire G. (Voegele) Walthour. Richard and Claire were married on February 19, 1955. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Doris Smalley. He is survived by two sons, Rick Walthour, and Gary Walthour (Michelle); three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; his brother, Fred Walthour (Linda); his sister, Sally McMahon (Merril); and his loving dog, Lady. Friends will be received from 11 AM to 1 PM Friday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg where a funeral service will immediately follow at 1 PM with the Rev.
