Robert A. Shoemaker
May 3, 1936 - August 21, 2022 (Age 86)
Robert Anthony “Maker" Shoemaker, 86, of Everett, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on August 21, 2022. He was born on May 3, 1936 in Everett, PA, a son of the late Fred and Ada Luvesta (Miller) Shoemaker.
Maker is survived by a brother, Calvin (Jan) Shoemaker; two sisters, Emma (Carroll) Poe, and Ester Wineland; two sons, Bobby (Robin) Shoemaker and Brian (Linda) Shoemaker, and a daughter Wanda (Mike) Mortimer. He is also survived by his partner of 40 years, Glenda Truax, and her children, Tina (Butch) Ewing, Christine (Tim) Ward, Kim (Chris) Ewing, Julie Talbert (Chad Romsburg), Jim (Becky) Truax, Spring (Sam) Whisel, and Landon (Danielle) Truax. Together they have 19 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren. Many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and his special niece, Theresa, will miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by two brothers, William Shoemaker and Wesley Shoemaker; a sister, Helen Imler; and two nephews, Timothy Shoemaker and Martin Shoemaker.
In his younger years, he earned the nickname “Lum" from his family and friends. He attended and graduated from Everett Southern Joint High School in 1954 and then served his country in the United States Army as a bomb diffuser and tank/heavy equipment mechanic where he earned the good conduct medal. Following his service, he worked as a foreman at the Fibersheen Manufacturing Plant in Denver, CO. His family then moved back to Everett where he was a self-employed carpenter for many years until his retirement.
After retirement, Maker enjoyed watching old westerns, taking road trips, bird watching, his babies, and cheering on his family at the horse shows. He was dedicated to his family and will be truly missed by many people.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 12:00 pm in the Chapel at Donelson Funeral Home with Pastor Delmas Bard officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and share memories online at www.donelsonfuneralhome.com.
Burial will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.
